If you’re looking for adventure, you’re in the right place! The region spans over 10,000 sq. kilometers—roughly the side of Prince Edward Island—and it’s only a couple of hours from Edmonton, Alberta. It has hundreds of lakes, rivers, and trails to explore. Visitors can even drive to some of Alberta’s best rural lakes such as Lesser Slave Lake, Fawcett Lake, Lawrence Lake, and Cross Lake.
Staying in the Region
Visitors to the Slave Lake Region have the option of staying in one of the eight hotels in Slave Lake or can use one of the over 900 camping sites around the area.
Within Slave Lake there are eight hotels, comprised of over 700 hotel rooms, and each providing a diverse range of amenities for different needs and budgets. Families looking for a stay that includes access to a pool, hot tub, internet and breakfast will have their choice of hotels. There are also 12 campgrounds in the area with over 900 sites to serve a diverse range of campers. Choose lake-front lots with prime viewing for dramatic summer sunsets or, if you are an early bird, sunrises. For the more adventurous, choose a site close to the plethora of trail systems that run throughout the area. Campground sites range from full service, powered, and unpowered, with options for tenting, campers, and RVs. There are also cabins rentals and various B&Bs in the region for those looking for a retreat without the tent or camper.
