Welcome to the Slave Lake Region! Being a new resident in any community is overwhelming, so we have put together a new a Resident Welcome Package for you to use to help become fully engaged and integrated in this marvelous region. The package includes an introduction to the Slave Lake Region, area maps, and complete lists of Rec Clubs and Service Clubs, Health and WellnessPlaces of Worship and Education options. There is also a useful newcomer’s contact list that outlines many of the companies new residents need to contact – utilities, cable tv and internet, real estate and waste services. Also available is a full overview of housing options in the region.

As a resident of the Slave Lake Region, there is no way you will be bored. There are so many ways to get involved, whatever your interest – dancing, motocross, soccer, hockey, quilting – there are over 50 recreation clubs for you and your family to enjoy. Or, join one of the numerous service clubs in the region to participate in building community spirit and enthusiasm while addressing local needs.

Finding your way around the region has never been easier – try using one of our maps of Slave Lake or use the resident directory. If you are seeking health care professional or program provider, Slave Lake is the centre for the region, offering a hospital, medical clinic, a medevac base to transport critical patients to primary care, plus there are dental, optical, physiotherapy, psychology, chiropractic and massage therapy services available. There are also fitness classes, gyms and yoga studios available offering a wide variety of services.

For families with school aged children or those who seek post-secondary education, the Slave Lake Region boasts nine schools with over 1,700 students from kindergarten to grade 12, and post-secondary education (academic upgrading, professional development, diploma, certificate, and apprenticeship) through Northern Lakes College.
